Julie has worked in Deaf Education since qualifying as a Teacher of the Deaf in 1986, supporting Deaf and hard of hearing children and young people across a wide range of educational settings in both Queensland and New South Wales.

Julie’s experience spans the full educational journey, from early childhood through to tertiary education, and includes both direct teaching and leadership roles.

In addition to classroom teaching, Julie has held leadership and advisory roles supporting Teachers of the Deaf, classroom teachers, special education teachers, school administrators, regional support staff, and education systems and services.
She has extensive experience delivering professional learning and workshops for educators, families and support personnel, helping build understanding of Deafness, communication, language development and inclusive educational practice.
Consultancy and Professional Learning
Julie is available to provide consultation, mentoring and professional learning for schools, educators, support teams and families seeking practical strategies to improve educational outcomes for Deaf and hard of hearing learners.
